Naruto: Shippuden is an anime series adapted from Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The series is directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. Naruto: Shippuden is a continuation of the Naruto manga, and continues the same storyline after the passing of two and a half years in the Naruto universe. It began broadcasting on TV Tokyo on February 15, 2007. Naruto Uzumaki, is a loud, hyperactive, adolescent ninja who constantly searches for approval and recognition, as well as to become Hokage, who is acknowledged as the leader and strongest of all ninja in the village. Naruto Shippuuden is the continuation of the original animated TV series Naruto. The story revolves around an older and slightly more matured Uzumaki Naruto and his quest to save his friend Uchiha Sasuke from the grips of the snake-like Shinobi, Orochimaru. After 2 and a half years Naruto finally returns to his village of Konoha, and sets about putting his ambitions to work, though it will not be easy, as He has amassed a few (more dangerous) enemies, in the likes of the shinobi organization; Akatsuki.

Series Parental Guide

nudity 3.5\10 Sexual innuendo and jokes. Naruto sometimes uses his "Sexy Jutsu", which allows him to transform into a naked girl. The jutsu is only done as a prank though and thick steam covers the breasts and genitals. Kakashi is sometimes shown reading an erotica book series called "Makeout Paradise". Jiraiya is extremely perverted, known for spying on bathing women as "research material" for his romance novels. In some episodes Sakura and Ino Comment about Tsunades chest due to her large breasts. Sakura is called "Flat as a board" due to her breast size.
violence 7\10 Shippuden is for an older audience. Fights can get intense and certain characters do die, much more bloodshed and violence than in the original "Naruto" series. War is a very prominent theme throughout the series, several villages are shown being in ruins during flashbacks and the effects of wars are shown. One of the main villains is a war orphan. One main villain named Pain wishes to make every nation spiral into an all-out war, not caring for the millions of deaths it'd cause. He calmly kills several people throughout the series and decimates an entire village, killing hundreds, just to make Naruto fight him. In all battles we see lots of violence and blood. Characters are smashed, thrown down from great heights, and sometimes brutally killed by people that they love. In some episodes we see lots of people losing their houses and families by giant demons and other ninjas. An Akatsuki member named Hidan has voodoo doll-like powers that allows him to inflict any wounds done to him to his opponents. Since he's immortal, he frequently stabs and slices himself and enjoys the pain in a masochistic manner. In one scene, he is decapitated but the neck wound isn't shown. Another Akatsuki member named Kakuzu takes the hearts of his opponents to make himself immortal. He does this while they're still alive, however it is only shown once in a flashback as the body is silhouetted. In one episode, a young child is crushed by a giant rock. He is later shown to have survived, but half of his face is horribly scarred. Naruto remembers his childhood and the way that he was discriminated against as children and adults bullied him and treated him as a freak (he has a demon sealed inside himself, which could be intense to some people). Besides Naruto, many other characters have frightening and sad childhoods. In some episodes Sasuke has flashbacks of the deaths of his parents and clan, which are very emotional because it was his older brother that killed them. This could be intense for young viewers. When Orochimaru and the Akatsuki members appear the atmosphere becomes dark and intense. Much violence and blood for young viewers. Okay for those 13 and up.
profanity 5\10 Uses of "damn", "hell" and "bastard" can be heard at times. The villain Hidan has a foul-mouth and says "son of a bitch" at one point. In three episode, Sai taunts Naruto about his man hood.
alcohol 5\10 Asuma is shown to be a chain-smoker and smokes cigarettes frequently in his appearances. Sometimes characters will drink a type of Japanese wine called sake, but it's rare. Tsunade has some alcoholic tendencies and is drunk in one episode, but played for laughs.
frightening 8\10 The fighting at times can be quite intense as certain characters use techniques that range from harmless to down right disturbing and with gruesome results. Several Akatsuki members and Orochimaru especially can be disturbing and may frighten younger viewers. The final battle between Sasuke and his brother, Itachi is especially tragic and upsetting. The Shinobi World War saga is extremely intense and emotional, with the main theme being war. Several main characters die and tragic backstories are uncovered. Many characters die and it's typically very depressing. Even the most twisted villains in the series are shown having terrible or tragic pasts that led to them becoming what they are. Definitely a mature storyline that young viewers may not be able to emotionally handle. Overall explicit content: 28/50 Recommended for 13 and up TV-PG-D-L-S-V/ TV-14-L-V suggested rating PG-13 for intense supernatural/ martial arts violence, some language, sexual situations, partial nudity and smoking.
